The new photos are up for the month of July!
Just a quick post here to say that we finally finished book #1 of Robert Jordan’s The Wheel of Time series. We put a hold on the next book at the library last night, but today we are going to have to go out and get it anyway. Can’t bother losing a day because someone hasn’t returned their copy!
Oh we had a little debate in our house yesterday with the team. It was good fun even though I was 3 minutes short on the my speech. Didn’t go over all that bad considering most of us hadn’t done it since the last fling tourney at Mt. Hood.
Good luck out there.
Had a little server downtime today across all the sites (same server just different VirtualHosts). Apparently, after the last udpate, Apache decided to change where mod_rewrite and mod_auth_dbm looked for their respective modules. Of course, the old files still existed in the same place as they had always been. I just had to dig into the directory tree and find that there was a slew of new files since the last patch. In the meantime, I recompiled both PHP and Apache and was about ready to download the source directly and do it manually rather than with Slackware’s package tool Swaret.
So, for anyone that happens to use Slackware and like to keep it updated, I’ll post the specifics and save you some time.
When restarting Apache you may see this:
Cannot load /usr/local/apache/libexec/mod_rewrite.so into server:
/usr/local/apache/libexec/mod_rewrite.so: undefined symbol: dbm_fetch
Today Johnathan stuck his index finger out at me and I kissed the tip of it. He then stuck his finger back into his mouth and “ate” it.
Johnathan took his first stop today!
And I’m not talking about that in computer lingo…
This is a fun story, really.
Yesterday, Shae left for a bit to take care of our neighbors dog for a while and to work on some art. While she was gone, I was left with a stack of dishes (to be fair, we both took equal part in making them) on the sink and a kitchen that needed a little TLC. Here’s my dilemma, I’m hooked on this online version of Texas Hold’em Poker and I really wanted to win some of my money back (shhh… it’s just play money).
So, I start with the dishes like a good husband… I finish a pot.
And slowly… I turn and head into the room so I can just throw a hand up and see how it looks. Y’know, the argument that if I get a bad hand then it’s just not meant to be my night — right? Wrong.
I say to myself, “Why can’t I just do both?”
Bingo!
So, to make a long story longer (thanks Eldon), when Shae come home several hours later there was a clean kitchen, a laptop placed on the counter (far enough from the sink), and some jazz tunes coming from the radio. I had perfected the art of washing dishes, shrewdly betting, and making up new dance moves to teach Djai all at the same time. Plus! I tripled my money… shh… it’s fake remember?
Ok so I’m a parent now and I have a website for the purpose of raving about my son… deal with it.
1) This afternoon, we had Djai’s portable high-chair on the kitchen floor for some reason instead of a chair. Not really a big thing or anything but I must say that I was quite amused when Johnathan crawled up into and sat himself upright, then proceeded to sign “more” to me. I guess pointing at the fridge wasn’t a clear enough picture for us slow adults, he felt that he needed to get himself ready on his own!
2) This evening when I put him down, we have a usual routine of bath, book, song, and then sleep. There is a rare occasion when the book must be skipped because he is overly tired, but tonight was little different again. I get him out of the bath and dried, then we go into his room and get a diaper situated. PJ’s pants follow, but to get the shirt on him I need him to sit up in my lap. I lift him up and lean him against my chest so that I can button the front of his shirt, and as soon as I get the first button done his eyes are closed and he is leaning against my chest. By the time I hit the bottom button his breathing had already gone heavy. Ha! Needless to say, we didn’t get to a book tonight, he did flutter when I turned him back around but pointed straight at the crib. Without a word, I settled him down with a little song and it was lights out.
