Zerbert

Saturday, October 15th, 2005 by Ben

Djai can officially zerbert on his own now! He tried again on me yesterday and after a little more coaching from mom, he got it down very nicely! In fact, after he got me, he grabbed his Cabbage Patch kid and promptly pulled up his shirt so that he could zerbert him too!

Sellout

Thursday, October 13th, 2005 by Ben

I’ll be the first to say it… I’m a sellout. If you don’t have a browser that blocks ads then you’ll notice a little text-ad in the upper-right section of the journal, and at the bottom of the gallery photos. I’ve been seeing too many searches coming in from MSN, Yahoo, and Google, for the various Apache/Linux fixes that I’ve posted so I thought it would be a good idea to try and recover some costs for the hardware running this site. I’ll hopefully be able to generate a little revenue stream to repair the old server and have some spare parts in case it goes down again! If faced with another hardware failure like last month, I wouldn’t be able to get this thing running again without some extra cash.

Today we got an offer on our house and we’ve accepted it! Phew! It took a long time but someone finally wanted it. Now we have the fun of finding a new place!

The biggest thing to hit parliamentary debate since contacting your congressmen became cliche… and yes… it’s the little one!

Lewis & Clark

Our first tournament is finally over! Three days of speaking and debating! Phew… my voice barely made it through too. I brought some throat lozenges just in case.

But… we didn’t do too bad. Nik and I went through to the finals in Parli Debate with a 5-1 record! We lost the first elimination round with a 1-2 vote from the panel of judges. I went into the round with the hopes of at least a single vote to show that we fought well. I’m happy with that.

My persuasive platform speech also took a Finalist awards in the Junior level of competition. I completely didn’t expect that one, but it excites me to the potential of it’s use in future tournaments.

I’m exhausted from the pressure… mmm…

poo duty

Thursday, October 6th, 2005 by Shae

When we were visiting the Trevino’s in AZ I heard Aunt MaryLee say “Oh, Andy, some things you just don’t need to photograph.” “But it was her first one!” was Andy’s reply as he showed us a picture on his digital camera of Alyssa’s bathtub poo. All neat and log-like, as if you could just scoop it out. Just like that. Djai’s poo is no loggy, I rather like to refer to it as “patty,” or, “Djai patty.” I know I am doing a good job with his food variety if his stool is not too hard, yet not too runny. The “patty” is just perfect I think. Soft enough to not give him troubles, but still all in one place. When it is in the diaper anyway. Water is another story entirely. After the Lysol and drain-o vapors finally cleared out of the bathroom, tonight I had to disinfect the bathtub and ALL of the bath toys for the third time this week. When in water the Djai patty quickly disperses into tiny particles and the whole bathtub is poo soup with a side of sail boats. I can see the contents of his day’s meals. Whole kidney beans. Grape skins. Mandarin orange segments! This is not as bad as Ben’s “fountain poo” experience, or story after story of baby Brodeur poo, but boy do I envy Andy and Melanie for Alyssa’s poo log!
