Lewis & Clark State
Well, we got back from our first weekend tournament in Lewiston, ID. Didn’t get in until almost 2am on Monday morning… yeck! We came in 2nd against all community colleges again. It was a really tough tournament. I really felt like the competition had gone up a notch from the last one. Nik and I still had a great time with debates though. We actually made it the very last round of the novice division debates! Right there… at the top of the tournament… but alas… our luck ran out and we lost on an 0-3 vote. But you know what? I had fun!
Best part of the tournament by far was when Nik was able to incorporate the phrase “Oh ziiiiiiiinnnnnnnggg!!!” into a speech by answering a question from the affirmative. Hehe. Too good!
’twas simply fantastic.
No sleepless nights focused on the last round this time, I hope?
I’d say not- but he keeps ME up all night with all his fantastic stories. Way to go guys, can’t wait to see your silliness myself!
Nah. I feel that their win was very deserved, unlike the last time where I thought we got somewhat robbed by “activist judges”. You and I have lots of work to do, but I hope we’ll see finals again someday (just never in Novice).
I call on the “Ziiiiinnnngg!!!” phrase to be used in every round at least once!
You guys were really amazing. On a more important note, I miss you Shae!!
I think I’m going to start quoting Dave… and introducing myself in my constructive.
“Dave Kosloski once said… ‘The thing about road rage is…(yatta yatta)’… Hi, I’m Nik, you may remember me from such debates as (insert whatever. Today I’ll be taking on the roll as member of (gov/opp), I hope you enjoy my 8 minute constructive”
The thing that I’m most excited about though, as I’ve said before is that I’m feeling like I’m getting the basics down enough so that I can start to have fun in rounds. Too bad that’s all going to change come junior
