New Videos
On a lighter note (for me), I’m using VirtualDub now to recompress and clip the videos. It’s about a 6/1 compression ratio using the Windows Media Player 9 codec.
What does this mean for you? Longer files with a fraction of the download time. What does this mean for me? Longer files with a fraction of the bandwidth. Not that I care about bandwidth having a server in my office, but I stream talk radio all day long and I feel bad sometimes when I see someone trying to download a 30-second clip that’s 4MB during the day.

VirtualDub is fantastic. OSS if I recall. Which leads me to the point of this comment. I don’t know if you’ve looed @ xVid, or not, but it’s a pretty slick opensource codec. Of course, it requires that your audience have the codec installed, so it may be more throuble that it’s worth.

Yes it is OSS. I have looked at that codec but judging from those downloading from this site the WMV9 codec was a better choice. Those that don’t know what a codec is likely have it, and those that know and use Linux can get it to work in Xine or Totem.
BTW - Has everyone hit “Refresh” to see the new header graphic and colors? It’s very nice…
