Utah trip

Thursday we began the long trek up to Cedar City Utah to stay with Cody & Michaela. The eight hours we spent in the car went smoothly for the most part, save for some expected behavioral quirks from our four year old and a little detour. Our trip to Sedona in May provided us with a view of what beauty the desert can hold, however I wrote this off as anomaly and was totally unprepared for the gorgeous and unique landscape we saw in the middle of nowhere, Arizona and Utah. I’m sharing the photographs that I took, but they do the actual thing no justice.

Friday we celebrated Fourth of July with Cody’s future in-laws in Michaela’s home town of Parowon, Utah. They are kind and fun people I will be proud to call family. I hope to meet up with them again before the wedding next year.
Saturday we met up with Lonnie and Tracy who know how to set up one hell of a picnic. I believe it was the first time Johnathan met his Grandpa, and the first time Noah and Cody have had their entire immediate family together in five years. A special day indeed.

Sunday we were sad to say goodbye to Mom and the boys & their families. I hope it isn’t too long until next time. We took a different route home, and enjoyed the different scenery. I didn’t take any pictures through the forest areas, but it would have been neat to show the contrast.
Both boys did great on the long ride home. They are the perfect ages for road trips- Johnathan is old enough to sit still with activity books and snacks, and Joshua is young enough that he doesn’t need to run around. He was happy with the milk I pumped & bottled fed him, and a couple squishy toys to chew on.

The weekend was rich with good times and I wish I could afford to sit here and share all the details, but this mama is lucky to have gotten this far.
