Speech 2

This is my rough “attention-getter” for my next speech.

The year is 1969. Apollo 11 lands on the moon and man takes his first step on extraterrestrial soil; ½ million people gather to see Jimi Hendrix, The Who, and others in upstate New York at the first Woodstock festival; Children’s Television Workshop begins airing a new program called Sesame Street; and Charlie Kline crashes his computer at UCLA while attempting to login to the Stanford Research Institute. This is the beginning of the Internet.

Math update

Well – the saga continues. A little more positive this time. Last week I was invited by a fellow student to a study session at Billygans. Three of us sat down and worked out math problems for 31/2 hours! They are doing much better in the class than I am but they were very willing to go back a few sections and work with me. It was a great help for me and it looks like I may become a regular during their weekend study sessions.

Kaki King

I was working on math homework tonight (and starting to get some right again for once) and I had the TV on. I flipped by David Letterman and he had a musical guest playing and she was just incredible. Her name is Kaki King. If you haven’t seen her (listening won’t do justice… you’ll understand when you watch her play) then check out the links below:

Cup

Just a quick note before he wakes…
Ji drank from a cup today- by himself! He brought it up and down like five times before the crash and spill. I sure am proud of that little guy. Of course he farts and I am proud, so…

Welcome

Allow me to be the first to welcome our new Secretary of State.

You can decide if I’m being sarcastic or not… ;)

School

Well – hours and hours of math studying and practicing really paid off on my first test. I nice big fat “F+” (no my teacher didn’t write in the “+” — that would have been cruel). Still, I’m only taking two classes and I don’t see how I can balance enough time between the two of them and keep up with the insane number of projects at work, and on top of that all (and most important) stay true to myself and be there for my family. This is what I profess to stand for right? So why do all these obstacles keep putting themselves in the way?

We’re faced with a dilemma now I’m afraid. Yet there are still too many unanswered questions and possibilties to make any immediate decisions. Something with have to change in the near future for my sanity. I will not miss my opportunity to develop a relationship with my son. The days and weeks are simply blurring by me and before I know it… who knows? I don’t.

I sure wish I could be in an English class again…

Laptop

After dealing with dropped Internet connections every half-hour on the IBM laptop for the past 2 weeks I finally decided to wipe Windows XP off. Horrible OS and I’m glad to be rid of it. So far it’s running smoothly on Win2K since I really didn’t want to struggle getting Linux on it. I know that it’s possible to get most Linux distros running on a laptop but I just don’t have enough time to configure and tweak and compile (not to mention re-compiling).
