Sanchin-Ryu Summer Workshop in Gilbert

We had a 3 week break in between Sanchin-Ryu sessions at the start of summer so District Master Ahles was kind enough to host a 2-hour outdoor workshop. Not only that, but it went so well that we did another one the following weekend! Here are pics from the first session (and a 2nd Degree Brown Belt promotion at the end).

Johnathan’s Karategi

Here’s some pics of Johnathan wearing his official karategi before our first class back as individual students rather than father/son pair. Instead of pairing off with me 100% of the time to work on a move, he gets to work with another student closer to his age/build. And of course the flip-side of that means that I get to work with another adult rather than someone that I can pick up with one arm!

Meet our first Orange Belt

After ten or so classes and much practice at home, Johnathan took his Orange Belt test for Sanchin-Ryu Karate this morning. The class started out with at least a dozen kids/parents but, as you can see, whittled down significantly over the weeks. We’re quite proud and I’m hoping that this might even become a theme within the household.
